The "IXth INTERNATIONAL SYMPOSIUM ON LUMINESCENCE SPECTROMETRY IN BIOMEDICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL ANALYSIS - SPECTROSCOPIC AND IMAGING DETECTION TECHNIQUES

will be held at the CORUM, Centre des Congrès, Montpellier, May 15-17, 2000.

This symposium, the ninth in a successful series, envisages to report on the current status and future developments in the field of luminescence techniques (fluorescence, chemiluminescence, bioluminescence, phosphorescence). High sensitivity analysis, fluorescence imaging techniques and advances in integrated optoelectronic devices or chips for sensing will be at the forefront of the discussions. These techniques of luminescence, alone or in combination with separation techniques or immuno-assays, will concern drug quality control, clinical, chemical, biochemical, pharmaceutical, toxicological, food, environmental analyses and related areas.

The venue of this ninth meeting, the Mediterranean city of Montpellier offers attractive opportunities : the town hosts many old and reknown universities or faculties, research centers and pharmaceutical firms. The meeting will be held at the Corum, Palais des Congrès.
The town and the surrounding region offer an unusually rich choice of natural and cultural sites. For more information, browse the following sites :

If you arrive by car or plan to travel from Montpellier by car, look for detailed information on : http://www.iti.fr.

The main scientific themes will include:

1 - Fundamental Issues in fluorescence and luminescence
2 - Techniques for high sensitivity analysis
3 - Fluorescence imaging techniques
4 - Advances in computing and integrated optoelectronic or chips for sensing

The Book of Abstracts and the special issue of Luminescence: The Journal of Biological and Chemical Luminescence (John Wiley) containing the extended abstracts, will be issued free of charge to all fully registrated delegates at the conference.

An exhibition will be held during all the symposium. Companies like Varian, PerkinElmer, Bioritech, Promega, J. Wiley, have already confirmed their participation. Various forums will be held to present the latest equipments or techniques. The posters and the exhibition share the same area, next to the Einstein lecture hall.

The official language of the Congress will be English.
